Overview of Kratom Strains
When you’re new to the world of Kratom, the amount of strains can be a bit intimidating. So we’ve compiled a brief guide for you to help you choose the right strain for the effect you’re looking for.
The three most common vein varieties are Red, Green and White.
So we’re going to discuss the differences between them.
Red is the ‘Indica” of the Kratom varieties. If you’re looking for something to soothe your pain, or help to keep your anxiety at bay, then a Red is what you’ll likely want. Typically Red’s are taken in the evening to help with sleep and relaxation. Many users report excellent results taking along side a single beer or a cocktail for a synergistic effect.
- analgesic (pain relief)
- anxiolytic (anti-anxiety)
- sedation (sleep)
- synergetic with low dose alcohol
White’s are on the opposite spectrum from Red’s, they’re the ‘Sativa’ of the Kratom family. People who enjoy White’s generally are seeking the euphoric energetic properties of the White varieties. A couple grams in a cup of coffee, gives a great morning energy boost. People often add Kratom to their morning smoothies as well.
- mild euphoria
- energetic boost
- synergetic with caffeine
Where White and Red are on the opposite ends of the Kratom effects spectrum, Green’s lie somewhere in the middle. The green is the go to strain if you’re wanting one strain to provide you both a euphoric energetic boost and analgesic anxiolytic properties. It’s a great general purpose strain and we often recommend beginners start with a green to see which properties of Kratom work for you.
- balanced effects
- great for beginners
- one strain to rule them all
See our Dosage Guide to get a better understanding of how dosage affects your Kratom experience. The general idea is that lower doses are good for energy and euphoria, while higher doses are meant for pain reduction and anti-anxiety. Though due to variances in people’s body chemistry, we invite everyone to experiment to find their sweet spot.
